Ok, I still have not updated
the content but did find this quote that I liked and thought you might like
it:
"Don't box a boxer, don't grapple a grappler,
fight your fight which is not to fight fair."
It encapsulates some of my thoughts on self-defense and no rules combat, don't get sucked into playing by someone elise's rules, a boxer will need to be a certain distance from you to deliver a punch a karateka a certain distance to kick and a judoka will will need to close the gap to grapple. As an alrounder (as we teach) you should choose a distance that is totally wrong for your opponent.
My next suggestion is that if you know you are in danger and you can not get away is to use a preemptive strike and go in first. If you wait to be attacked you will be at a big disadvantage, you won't be looked on favorably by the law but it could make a deference between your life and death!
I'll be doing a Question and answer page soon so send your questions to
the webmaster and you could see your question answered here soon.
I've added the syllabus in text only format to make for easy printing, just go to the bottom of the old syllabus pages or click here
I'm thinking of starting the Friday lunchtime session up again from 12:30-01:30pm, mail me if you're interested!
